Notes

After getting licensed as a real estate agent in 1990, the third transaction Melissa did was buying her first home with her partner. Less than a year later, they had split, but were still tied together by the house. There were many lessons learned about how to move forward after ending a relationship, when real estate is involved.

When asked, Melissa said, “Over the last 32 years, I have learned so much about asset division and distribution. I’ve also learned some of the best ways someone can protect themselves and their interests. Not all relationships workout as planned, so I help my clients save their credit score, preserve home ownership eligibility, even when they plan to keep the house.”

Real Estate transactions during a divorce can be emotionally stressful, and many times, can seem overwhelming. “My team and I specialize in real estate transactions which occur during family transitions. These real estate transactions, many times, are complex, requiring the involvement of legal services. They also might require a team of people who can see beyond the transactional aspects of the case. We approach each divorce case with compassion, empathy, and professionalism.”

Melissa is an Atlanta native and was raised in Tucker, GA with 4 siblings. As a child, Melissa had aspirations of being a lawyer. Never in a million years did she think she’d stumble into the real estate industry in her early 20’s, but you can’t always predict where or when you’ll discover what you’re meant to do in life.

As the years went by, Melissa worked her way from her high school job at McDonald’s to Real Estate, to joining the Army Reserve during the Gulf War, never wavering in resolve to become the best version of herself with each career move.

Melissa served a total of 14 years in the Army with a mix of Reserves, National Guard, and active duty during the war with Iraq. She was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 2008.

Her ability to stay focused on her client’s goal, find solutions to any obstacles which might arise, and calmly guide her clients to closing their transactions, are qualities she attributes to her years in the military.
